Hermès Reportedly Stopped North West From Acquiring Rare Kelly Bag Her mother, Kim Kardashian, owns a large number of them. In her "Back Row" newsletter, journalist Amy Odell detailed the shopping issue involving Kardashian and Kanye West's eldest child, North. Odell interviewed a former employee of the Hermès boutique in Beverly Hills, who spoke to her on condition of anonymity. "Not all celebrities got what they wanted," the saleswoman said of her time working at the store. "Kanye West and Kim Kardashian wanted a black Mini Kelly bag for North or something. And Hermès said no," the source revealed. "I have no idea why, but we were like, 'Oh wow.' I think at that point it becomes corporate, because if someone who has that high profile wants something, then obviously they will be photographed in it, and they don't want just anyone to be photographed in it," they added. "So you'd call the press office and say, 'Hey, so-and-so wants a bag.' And usually they'd say, 'Cool.' But for some reason they didn't want North West to have a crocodile Mini Kelly." Hermès bags made with exotic skins such as alligator cost more than the model. An alligator Mini Kelly typically costs around $80,000 on the resale market. Hermès famously does not advertise the retail price of its bags, which can normally only be purchased by regular customers of the brand, according to The Telegraph. North has endorsed an Hermès bag before: In 2019, she carried a white version of the coveted bag while out with her mother in New York City.
